Great Fire

Starting as a small fire in a bakery on Pudding Lane, the Great Fire of London swept through the heart of the city of London over 5 days in September 1666.

The blaze destroyed the medieval City of London and in its path consumed over 13,000 houses, dozens of churches, trade halls and many land marks including Guild Hall, the Royal Exchange and St. Paul's Cathedral. At least 70,000 Londoners were made homeless.

The fire lead to a witch hunt for suspected foreign spies and catholic conspirators. It also lead to the rebuilding of London by Sir Christopher Wren and the beginnings of the modern city.

Extent of damage due to the fire:

In The Last Seal the Great Fire is started by the Liberati in an attempt to release the Demon Dantalion who is entombed beneath the city.
